Remembering Oscar Hendricks

Oscar Hendricks, 26 biology teacher in East High School, Youngstown, collapsed in his class room Wednesday morning from a heart attack and died while being removed to the North Side hospital. He was born in Youngstown, a son of Clyde W. Hendricks and the late Anna Barnes Hendricks.

Oscar graduated high school in Canfield, Ohio, then attended Ohio State University.  While at Ohio State University, Oscar fell in love with Gertrude Potter.  The couple graduated with teaching degrees, Oscar in science and Gertrude in home economics.  The couple married in 1931 and had 2 sons.  Oscar was an instructor in Fitch school at Austintown, then  moved to Youngstown to teach at East High School.  Oscar was a fine young man, held in high esteem by all who knew him.  Oscar leaves behind his wife, Gertrude and two small sons, Robert and William, and his father.

Oscar Hendricks, whose sudden death came as a severe shock to the people of this community where he was held in highest regards.
